North Cedar ( I received the information below via email)
June 9th

The gray 2 story house along the river, that was our house of 33 years, we never had water in our home except for the basement, and the flood of 2008 totally destroyed our home at 124 E Main St. It was a very very sad sad day to see that happen and now the house is gone.

Sandbags are now under water.

Levee
June 10th.

As you can see water we had some leakage which was a concern and required sandbaging.

North Cedar

Before it was over the water was much higher,I doubt this car remained.

Cedar Falls Dam
June 10th.

As you can see the dam was entirely covered.

Same house as above on the next day. Keep in mind after this picture was taken the river went up another 5 feet.

Sandbaging went on into the night.

This is just a small part of the thousands and thousands of sand bags used to prevent flooding. Its unreal the amount of sandbags that had to be used state wide. And many places they are still filling them south of here

leak
June 13th.

Its hard to see in this picture but you can see some small area where water had gotten through at this point. It was taken at the same spot as above so you can see how far the water has fallen.

Down Town Cedar Falls
June 13th

Faceing downtown Cedar Falls. As you can see by this picture taken at the same spot as the two above the downtown is much lower. Had the leeve given way or the water went over the sandbags flooding would have been major.
